Register for a free clean-up kit in this year’s Valleys Spring Clean and you could win a £50 cash prize.
The Valleys Spring Clean 2010 takes place from April 26 – May 2 and Keep Wales Tidy has provided free clean-up kits to help you clean up your local area.
Kits can be ordered online and all those who pledge to undertake a litter-pick will qualify for entry into a £50 prize draw, which has been donated by the Helping Hand Company.
Carly Dalley from the Helping Hand Company said, “We are thrilled to be sponsoring The Valleys Spring Clean event this year and I will be coming along to take part in one of the litter picks. Good luck to all the entries, we hope the cash prize will help towards making your local community cleaner and greener!”
The kits, sponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government’s Regeneration Department, include guidance notes on how to organise a fun, safe clean-up event; gloves, bags, publicity materials and tabards to keep everyone clean and dry. Local authorities have also pledged support to the campaign by providing litter collection and the loan of litter pickers to all those taking part.
Chief Executive of Keep Wales Tidy, Lesley Jones said, “Keep Wales Tidy and the Valleys Heart and Soul of Wales Campaign are calling upon residents to demonstrate how much they love the valleys by rolling up their sleeves and giving their local patch a good old spring clean.
“We all have a responsibility to ensure that the beautiful Valleys landscapes are cared for and kept litter-free. The Valleys Spring Clean kits provide all the necessary equipment, we just need local people to get together, show some traditional Valleys community spirit and organise clean-ups.”
Residents are urged to organise their own event or join in with one listed on The Valleys Spring Clean page on the Keep Wales Tidy website.
