Tots can take their favourite teddy bears for a fun-packed picnic in the park at one of Rhondda Cynon Taf’s most popular annual events.
The Teddy Bears Picnic will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, from 10.00am-2.30pm. The Council’s Early Years and Family Support Services are hosting the event which has the theme “teddylympics” to encourage healthy eating and exercise.
More than 6,500 children and adults attended last year and enjoyed a day full of fun-packed activities. This year, there will be arts and crafts, bouncy castles, bikes, a puppet show, singing, dancing, storytelling and a visit from S4C children’s presenter Martyn Geraint.
Tickets for children aged one to five can be bought on the day at the entrance to the event and cost £4.00. Once inside the event, all activities are free of charge. There is no entry charge for children under the age of one and no charge for adults.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Annette Davies, said: “This is a fabulous day out for little ones and is one of our most successful events of the year. We hope many young children, with their parents or carers and their bears, of course, will come along and enjoy this year’s picnic.”
