Responding to today’s ambulance response times figures, the Party of Wales Shadow Health Minister Elin Jones said:
“These disastrous figures show that the Labour Welsh Government has once again failed to meet its target. This is the worst performance in over a year, and reflects Labour’s failure to properly run the health service.
“Behind these statistics are real patients who have waited too long for life saving emergency treatment, and have had their health suffer as a result.
“More than a year since the Welsh Government carried out a review of the service we continue to wait for progress. It is clear that the government has failed to deliver the improvements that are needed.
“It doesn’t have to be like this – in Scotland where conditions for the ambulance service are more challenging, ambulances are now able to arrive within 8 minutes over 70% of the time as a result of the stronger governance of the health service that the Scottish Government has introduced. Wales can do better.”
