The Party of Wales Shadow Economy Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth said:
“Plaid Cymru fought to stop the UK Government privatising the service, and we were hugely disappointed when it was sold at a significant loss to the taxpayer.
“We always warned that privatisation would mean that profits would be put before people, and that’s why the Party of Wales put forward an alternative model whereby services could be kept in public hands. The priority now must be to ensure that the universal service is fully protected and that the public stake in postal service isn’t watered down any further.
“Service users will be extremely concerned that the current losses will lead to job losses and a reduction of services – particularly in rural areas which are in danger of becoming cut off.”
