Plaid Cymru Comments on Unemployment Figures

Rhun ap IorwerthCommenting on today’s unemployment figures, the Party of Wales Shadow Economy Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth said:

“It is clearly good news for the people of Wales that unemployment has fallen to 7.1%  in the three months to December. However, the Welsh Government must not be complacent about this. Youth unemployment is still very high, underemployment remains stubbornly high and long-term youth unemployment has soared by almost 500% since the beginning of this Labour government.

“In the past, Wales as struggled to create the high-value jobs that suit the needs of people and add more value to the economy, and we need to make sure that our economic recovery supports the creation of this type of work. That’s why Plaid Cymru has worked to develop higher level skills training, and to support out small and medium sized businesses train and retain staff.”
