Plaid Cymru, the Party of Wales, has welcomed the Estyn report on schools in Ceredigion. School standards in the county were awarded the highest possible rating and described as ‘excellent’.
The Party of Wales Shadow Education Minister Simon Thomas described the report as a clear testament to the effectiveness of Plaid Cymru policy on education, and praised the Local Authority’s success on the floor of the Assembly Chamber.
The Party of Wales Shadow Education Minister Simon Thomas said:
“I have worked closely with my colleagues in Ceredigion, particularly the council leader Ellen ap Gwynn and I offer my congratulations to her and to her fellow councillors for the work they have done. I am particularly privileged that my own children have been educated in Ceredigion.
“The Estyn report commended the authority’s Pupil Tracking System in particular. Plaid Cymru is a strong advocate of early intervention to empower authorities to intervene when a child begins to fall behind, and it is good that this has had particular commendation. A Plaid Cymru Government in 2016 would look to roll out the Pupil Tracking System across Wales to ensure that all of our children receive the excellent level of education they deserve.”
