“This is a defining moment in Welsh politics. This was one of the most significant commitments in the One Wales agreement and I am delighted that Plaid has been able to deliver it. The people of Wales deserve to have a parliament that will stand up for them against the sort of savage cuts we have seen from London.
There is no doubt that we need a change to the system. It has proved to be incredibly difficult to navigate resulting in a huge amount of wasted money and wasted time. We have seen perfectly reasonable legislation, such as the measure to ensure children have seatbelts on school buses, which were backed on a cross party basis being lost in the complexity of the LCO system for too long.
It is more important than ever that we have a successful referendum to put in place a shield against Westminster’s attacks on Welsh services. This motion will kick start the business end of the campaign helping Wales take charge of tackling its own problems and improve its long term future.”
