The chair of the Assembly’s cross party broadband committee has been left bitterly disappointed that Wales has been ignored as a pilot area for next generation broadband. The Chancellor announced that pilots would be going ahead in England and Scotland but that Wales would miss out. Nerys Evans AM said it showed a continued lack of interest in supporting Welsh business by the Conservative-Lib Dem coalition.
Plaid’s Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire candidate Nerys Evans AM said:
“This is yet another example of how the ConDem coalition has ignored the economy of Wales. We continually hear Tory and Lib Dem AMs state their support for better broadband facilities but clearly that is nothing more than idle talk when their party bosses have once again let Wales down.
“I know that the Welsh Government put forward recommendations for trial opportunities in Wales so the fact that they have been disregarded is hugely disappointing. England and Scotland will be receiving investment on this but clearly supporting Welsh businesses is a step to far for the Conservatives and Lib Dems.”
