Neath Port Talbot Council, in partnership with Play Right and Swansea Council, has been successful in securing £1million of Big Lottery Child’s Play funding for play across the region.
In Neath Port Talbot this will be used to buy and convert a playbus to take play across the county borough.
Free play sessions will be offered from the bus to link in with the work of the Council’s “Play Works?!” team who will be in communities helping children and young people to overcome barriers to play.
Running for four years, the project will be working across the county borough to help improve play for children aged 8-12 years. It is hoped that the project will start in the autumn when the bus is ready.
Council Leader, Ali Thomas, said “Having opportunities to play is vital for children in Neath Port Talbot. This project aims to work with the whole community to ensure we can all support children to play in their local area.”
