Police are appealing for information after a five year old boy sustained serious facial injuries when a stone, thrown from a bridge, smashed through a car windscreen on the A55.
The shocking incident occurred at about 6.50pm on Thursday March 3 when a motorist was driving eastbound on the A55 near LLandygai Bangor.
As the driver passed under the bridge at Caerhun, he saw a hooded figure on the bridge and then a large stone smashed his windscreen, hit his dashboard and bounced into his young son’s, face causing serious, but fortunately non- life threatening injuries.
Chief Inspector Nigel Harrison said: “The passenger was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd and then transferred to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and, although not life threatening, the full extent of the injury is still being assessed.
“We are also appealing for witnesses to a similar incident which took place in the same place on Wednesday March 2 at around 11.20pm.
“Fortunately there were no injuries on that occasion, but we are anxious to speak to anyone who was travelling along this stretch of road either on Wednesday night at around 11.20pm or Thursday evening at around 6.50pm.
“Throwing objects from a bridge is highly dangerous. This kind of irresponsible behaviour is thankfully very rare. CID are investigating and treating these incidents extremely seriously.
“I would like to reassure motorists and members of the public that everything is being done to find those responsible.”
“If anyone has any information we would urge them to come forward and contact us as soon as possible.”
