North Wales Police continue to designate significant resources into the murder investigation of Ffion Wyn Roberts in Porthmadog on April 10 and the force remains fully focused on solving the case.
Detective Superintendent Peter Chalinor explained: “A large dedicated team has been carrying out house to house enquiries, reassurance patrols, forensic examinations, CCTV and mobile phone examination and witness liaison enquiries.
The wide scale investigation is being co-ordinated from the Major Incident Room at Llandegai and staff at Porthmadog police station, in addition to maintaining the normal policing numbers for the area.
Investigations of this nature initially need a higher level of resources with crime scenes and locations requiring preservation, searching and examination by properly trained officers, Crime Scene Investigation teams and specialist units such as Underwater Search and Air Operations.
In Porthmadog police numbers remain proportionately high due to the many outstanding lines of enquiry following the tremendous support and information given by the community.
Uniformed officers are completing house to house inquiries and we still maintain a number of CID investigators and specialists. The investigation is progressing well, but there is a huge amount of information that police have to filter in order to bring the offender/s to justice.
“In complex cases where victims have been left out in the open it is not uncommon for there to be a lengthy investigation and when the police have evidence to arrest individual/s we will do so swiftly.”
Anyone who was in Tremadog or Porthmadog between 9pm on Friday, April 9, and 8am on Saturday, April 10, is asked to contact the incident room on 01745 538474 or to call the Force on 101. Alternatively text 66767 or e-mail [email protected]
