The Dyfed-Powys Police Open Day, which was held at Newtown Police Station on Sunday 20 September, was a major success as it attracted scores of members of the public from across the county.
Crowds were treated to a variety of displays from departments such as Helicopter Support, Armed Response and an agility show from the Dog Section.
The event, which was organised as part of the Force’s commitment to the communities it serves, also boasted a range of fun and informative activities for all the family.
The Mid Wales Fire and Rescue Service highlighted the dangers of chip pan fires with a stunning demonstration that wowed the crowds. There was also a chance for people to discover more about their local Neighbourhood Policing Teams and what they do to engage with communities to help to make them safer.
In the marquee there was a wide range of displays including Powys Community Safety Partnership, Probation and Youth Offending Team, and a whole host of organisations who work in partnership with the Police Service.
Children were also entertained with face painting, fun balloon shaping and a chance to meet birds of prey at the Falconry display.
Chief Inspector Chris Curtis, who chaired the organising committee, said: “It was a fantastic day and we were fortunate to have excellent weather as we showcased our work and services. It was great to see the public understand what we do and I was extremely proud of my team who worked effortlessly to put this successful day together.
“The event ran very smoothly and provided us with the perfect opportunity to celebrate with our communities as we continue to help Powys to remain one of the safest places in England and Wales to live, work and visit.”
