Scores of police officers from across the country have put their best foot forward today to take part in the Police Sport UK Road Race Championship.
It is the first time in the history of the event that North Wales Police Sports Association has hosted the 10 mile race which saw competitors race around the Great Orme and back again before crossing the finishing line outside Venue Cymru.
Over 400 men and women from across the UK who registered for the race started from the Pier Gates at 2pm. Around 27 current and some retired officers from North Wales Police registered to take part.
DS Craig Jones is a member of the North Wales Police Sports Association and helped organise the event. He is also running the challenging course.
Speaking before the race, he said: “We were pleased with the take up for the event and we have officers competing from 39 forces across the country. The course this year is challenging and could see competitors take between 50minutes and over two hours to complete the route which takes in Marine Drive, the Great Orme and West Shore before returning to the promenade and finishing line.”
