Port Talbot RNLI inshore lifeboat was called out at 8.45am on Monday 21 March after a five-metre fishing boat reported engine failure.
The vessel, with two men on board, was half-a-mile south-west of the deep water harbour. The lifeboat was soon on scene and a tow was established.
The vessel managed to restart its engine under reduced power so the tow was then cast off and the vessel escorted back to the River Afan. The lifeboat was then stood down and returned to station.
