Port Talbot lifeboat rescues stranded youths

Port Talbot’s inshore lifeboat was tasked with an immediate launch at 9.10 on Wednesday evening (11 August), after reports that two youths were stranded on a sand bar at Crymlyn Burrows just off the River Neath.

The lifeboat was soon on scene and carried out a search of the area. Meanwhile the Coastguard contacted the lifeboat to inform its volunteer crew that a fire brigade crew, who were on scene dealing with a grass fire in the dunes, had waded out to the sand bar and escorted both youths back to shore as the tide was ebbing. Both were safe and did not require any medical attention.

The lifeboat was then then stood down and returned to station.
