In memory of ‘Behold the Man’, the bi-annual Passion Play at Margam Park which had such an impact on the young Michael Sheen, will return to create and lead an epic contemporary reinvention, celebrating the town he remains so devoted to.
Over three days at Easter in April 2011 National Theatre Wales will partner with the Cornish company WildWorks to re-stage the Port Talbot Passion Play as a non-stop outdoor theatrical spectacle with the entire town of Port Talbot as the cast and set.
National Theatre Wales is holding an open day on the 9th September at the Seaside Social and Labour Club on Dalton Road for the community and arts organisations of Port Talbot.
Pop in any time between 10am and 8pm to watch a video of Michael, get more info, and meet the
team.
The community of Port Talbot is at the heart of Passion. National Theatre Wales and
WildWorks want to meet anyone who might want to get involved with the project. It is going to take a huge range of skills to make the show, from performers to carpenters to all sorts of volunteers. The Open Day will be a great opportunity for you or your group to get a sneak preview of Passion, meet the team and discuss how you want to get involved.
NTW wish to include as wide a range of skills in the production as possible, and call on anyone who might be able to contribute, such as: performers (actors, dancers, musicians, circus performers, free runners, skateboarders, rappers and beatboxers, bikers and motorcyclists); craftsmen (carpenters, knitters, metalworkers, knitters, graffiti artists, sewers, all arts and crafts); artists (writers, filmmakers, documentary makers, poets, creative writers); community groups and charities, in particular those who provide support for local residents; and boat clubs, members of the TA, sea cadets and even martial arts practitioners.
