Port Talbot lifeboat was launched at 6.15pm on Friday (11 March) after reports of a teenage girl in a distressed condition, perched on the sea defences at the end of the small pier at Aberavon beach.
The lifeboat was stood off a short distance from the pier, whilst police spoke to the girl. After approximately half-an-hour, the police successfully encouraged the girl away from the edge of the pier and she was handed over to the ambulance service, which was also on scene. The lifeboat was then stood down and returned to station.
