Porth Raid Nets Police Cannabis Worth £1000

A search warrant executed at a property on High Street in Porth on Friday (December 3 2010) has led to the seizure of around £1000 worth of cannabis which was contained in plastic bags.

A significant amount of cash was also seized and is being kept pending further investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

A 20-year-old male was arrested in relation to the supply of illegal drugs and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The Neighbourhood Support Team from Porth raided the property early on Friday after receiving local intelligence from the public about suspicious activities relating to the address.

Sergeant Sion Parker said: “The community can be reassured that what was a significant amount of cannabis will no longer be making its way onto local streets and into the hands of local people, but instead has been taken out of circulation and is to be destroyed. We hope this is a reminder to the community that we will act on the intelligence that we get from them”.

Anyone with information about drug dealing in their area is urged to contact their local police station via 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
