Porthdinllaen RNLI lifeboat in search for missing pensioner

The lifeboat searched for three miles towards Caernarfon but was stood down at 3.30am. Nine hours later, Holyhead Coastguard requested the Porthdinllaen RNLI lifeboat launch again to continue searching for the woman, believed to be from Buckley in Flintshire.

RNLI Coxswain Mike Davies says:

‘At 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon, the RNLI all-weather lifeboat and the station’s boarding boat carried out a saturated search along with a Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley.

‘The boarding boat searched the coastline between Porthdinllaen to Trefor and down to Dinas Dinlle, whilst the all-weather RNLI lifeboat searched further out to sea. Search conditions were ideal and we covered approximately 11 miles of coastline.’

The Porthdinllaen RNLI lifeboat was stood down by Holyhead Coastguard and returned to station at 4.15pm.
