Additional bus stops on Park Place have also been introduced to make it easier for those working in the Cathays Park area.
Based just off the A48 (Eastern Avenue) the Cardiff East Park and Ride can be accessed from the Pentwyn Interchange. It has 945 car parking spaces, including 45 disabled spaces.
A Park and Ride bus runs every fifteen minutes from 7am Monday to Friday the service operates from 7am until 8.30pm On Saturdays buses run from 8am to 7pm and on Sundays from 10am until 5.30pm.
Executive Member for Traffic and Economical Development Cllr Neil McEvoy, said: “The Cardiff East Park and Ride service is now the cheapest place to park for commuters within Cardiff. The financial crisis has affected us all and as a Council we are doing our best to help everyone keep their costs down.
“The Cardiff East Park and Ride service is not only providing a value for money service for residents and commuters to Cardiff, but its also providing a great sustainable travel solution which helps to reduce congestion problems and carbon emissions which is very much in line with our Sustainable Travel City agenda.
“The service is already popular, with 2000 cars per week, we hope by reducing the cost it will encourage more people to use the Park and Ride service and realise just how easy it is to use.”
