Many homes and business in Tongwynlais were left without power on Tuesday night as thousands of volts surged through the local distribution system, apparently caused by the flooding of an underground junction box near the local school.
It has been reported that hundreds of homes were still without power last night and some were still without power this morning.
It is estimated that many thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused to peoples electrical goods, central heating and alarm systems.
We were told that the Post Office still has no power and the Doctors surgery and local school were also closed.
We understand that repair work is underway to repair the fault that that insurance assessors have been visiting affected homes.
