The Council’s tree gang have been have been praised for their efforts following the dramatic effects that recent severe weather has had on the city.
In excess of 100 calls from members of the public have been made to the Council following the storms and arborists were called to rapidly respond in order to keep damage and disruption to a minimum, ensure public safety and have been involved in the clean up operation.
Cabinet Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Ramesh Patel said:
“The result of storm damage to trees in Cardiff has the potential of causing a huge amount of disruption due to trees falling and causing road closures and damage to property.
“Our dedicate team of arborists have been working around the clock to remove unstable trees and make areas safe. I would like to extend our gratitude for their commitment and efforts and also for the kind words from residents who have contacted the Council, praising the team and thanking them for their hard work.”
Mrs Olwyn Marshall of Penylan said:
“I am keen to praise the team. A large tree, almost the height of our house, fell across the road. My neighbour called the Council and the team were on site within half an hour to attend to the tree. They responded remarkably well, acting very professionally and did a great job. I am very grateful.”
