Brewery Yard scheme scoops award

Monmouthshire County Council has been commended by the Welsh Royal Town Planning Institute for its impressive Brewery Yard Regeneration Scheme in Abergavenny.

The awards ceremony, held at Cardiff’s Park Hotel, heard that the “well conceived and sensibly designed” Brewery Yard scheme has “created an impressive new area of public realm, and provided a critical link between the town centre and nearby cattle market site”.

Representing the council on the evening was Councillor Bob Greenland, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member for Modernisation, Enterprise and Communications.

Councillor Greenland said: “We are delighted with the recognition given by the Wales RTPI in its 2010 awards.  Being a planning award, the commendation is a credit to all those that have been involved in the scheme from the beginning, as much for the town council, chamber and other partners in the town, as it is for members and officers of the county council.”
