CANCER RESEARCH has received a £1,200 boost to its funds from Administration of Justice staff in Wales.
Staff at the Administration of Justice Department in Prestatyn recently held a fun day for cancer charities. A jam-packed day raised £1,273 for Cancer Research alone and David Fielding, Cancer Research Area Volunteer Manager has now received the cheque.
“It’s a tremendous figure,” said David. “It’s absolutely brilliant, people have done so many things to raise the money and all of this will now translate into saving lives.”
The fun day on June 30 was not the first in Prestatyn, as Julie Foster, head of AJD explained.
She said: “Similar fun days have been held previously but this year was much bigger and better with many departments organising their own fundraising activities.”
She added: “As a department, we are very proud of the money raised. We had hoped for £500 but because of the great efforts we managed to raise so much more.”
Vicky Sharp and Alexa Castle both work in ADJ and played a major part on organising the day – which saw a variety of activities on offer to staff from beauty treatments to bingo! Many local businesses donated prizes and gave up time to help good causes.
Vicky and Alexa added: “We were absolutely amazed at how many people donated prizes and also by how much they gave – we’d like to thank them all very much as we raised a massive amount of money.”
