Prestigious award for dog wardens service

CaerphillyCaerphilly County Borough Council’s Dog Warden Service has received recognition for its good practice in animal welfare by being awarded an RSPCA Community Animal Welfare Footprints (CAWF) award.

The team received a Bronze Footprint Award from the Minister for Rural Affairs Elin Jones A.M at the Delivering Pet Welfare in Wales conference in Cardiff recently.

The RSPCA Community Animal Welfare Footprints (CSWF) Awards, which were launched in 2008, recognise organisations that have gone above and beyond their basic service requirements to ensure higher animal welfare standards.

Cllr Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for the environment said, “This award is in recognition for the hard work that our Dog Wardens Service have put in to ensuring that animal welfare in Caerphilly county borough is of paramount importance.

It is pleasing that a national organisation such as the RSCPA have recognised the excellent work that takes place in Caerphilly county borough regarding animal welfare.

My congratulations go to all members of the team, who work extremely hard to ensure that our county borough remains a safe and pleasant place to live, work and visit.”

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s
Dog Warden Service deal with a variety of issues including investigating reports of dog fouling, responding to complaints regarding stray dogs and making every effort to reunite them with their owners.
