Cardiff school children brought family iPads, mobile phones and bikes to school as part of crime prevention exercise.
Around 80 items were security marked and registered with the Immobilise website by members of the local neighbourhood policing team.
The aim of the day at St Paul’s Church in Wales Primary School in Grangetown was to raise awareness with the young people and ensure their property was protected.
Pc Emma Taylor, from the Cardiff Bay Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We were a bit surprised by the amount the children brought it but it was great to see them being so positive and interested in crime prevention.
“Hopefully we can get them into good habits from when they are young and take the messages home to their parents too.”
The officers also ensured electrical items belonging to the school were also security marked while force mascot Billy Blue joined in with the children at playtime.
Headteacher Susan Jones said:
“It was an enjoyable day. As well as teaching the children about taking care of their property, it was an opportunity for the children and parents to see police men and women in a positive role, and a time to develop good relationships within the community”.
The Fairwater Neighbourhood Policing Team has also held a similar event at Pentrebane Primary School security marking 40 items.
