Principality Chief Highlights Importance of Investing in Staff

The chief executive of Principality, who began his financial services career as a cashier, will talk about the importance of investing in staff at a special event in Cardiff next month.

Graeme Yorston will be the guest at a breakfast event organised by Leadership and Management Wales (LMW), the Welsh Government’s centre for excellence for private sector leadership and management development.

Part of LMW’s Challenge series, the event takes place at The Glamorgan Building, Cardiff University, on April 9, from 8.30am to 10.30am, and provides an interactive leadership masterclass for current and aspiring leaders and managers in private sector businesses in Wales.

Those attending will gain insight into the largest building society in Wales, hear about the development opportunities for Principality staff, and understand the impact and challenges of financial regulation.

Mr Yorston left school at 17 and began his career with Abbey National (now Santander) as a cashier, and progressed into a range of senior roles, before joining Principality in 2006. He was appointed Group CEO in October 2012.

“This event will provide a valuable insight into the leadership and management of one of the best-known and most admired brands in Wales,” said LMW deputy director, Jo Riley. “The lessons about investing in staff, which Graeme Yorston can share will be very interesting and potentially useful to organisations of all sizes.”
