Progress made at Llanddulas landfill meeting

Problems with Llanddulas landfill site were given a good airing last week at a public meeting.

Following complaints from a number of constituents, Darren Millar, Assembly Member for Clwyd West, organised a public meeting last week to discuss local resident’s concerns with Llanddullas landfill. Scores of people came to the meeting, which was held at Llanddulas village hall and representatives from Llanddulas Landfill operators WRG Limited and the Environment Agency Wales also attended the meeting.

Speaking after the meeting Darren Millar said:

“The meeting was very helpful and we made progress in a number of areas.

“During the meeting Local residents challenged the Environment Agency over lack of enforcement and the Landfill operator WRG apologised for odour problems in the village last year.

“Following discussion, WRG agreed to issue quarterly newsletter locally to keep residents updated on planned works at the site and the Environment Agency also agreed to double the number of spot checks on the site and a number of residents volunteered to visit with them – another meeting will take place in 6 months time to keep a check on progress.

“My thanks to all those who turned out for the meeting.”
