Prohibition Order served on Chillies, High Street, Rhuddlan

Environmental health officers from Denbighshire County Council have closed down a food premises in Rhuddlan after finding mouse droppings in its kitchen.

Officers visited Chillies, High Street, Rhuddlan to check standards of hygiene at the premises and found the mouse droppings throughout the kitchen and food storage areas. Officers served an Emergency Prohibition Notice immediately closing the premises.

Council officers attended Prestatyn Magistrates Court today (Thursday 20 January) and successfully applied for an Emergency Prohibition Order, confirming the actions of the council and ensuring that the premises remained closed.

The premises will remain closed until the council is satisfied that the premises no longer poses a risk to health.

Councillor Sharon Frobisher, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “This case sends a strong message to owners of food businesses that firm enforcement action will be taken to protect the health of the public eating food prepared in premises across Denbighshire.

“Environmental health officers work to support owners of food businesses through education, coaching and training, however  swift action will be taken where standards pose a risk to public health.”
