A public consultation exercise to address traffic problems in and around the communities of Caernarfon and Bontnewydd was launched on Monday (1 March).
The Welsh Assembly Government are seeking the views and opinions of local residents to help inform any future action taken to relieve congestion and improve safety along this busy stretch of road.
Traffic flows on the A487 are forecast to increase over time as a result of the economic development of the area. Since the A487 is a strategic link in the Welsh road network it is important that journeys can be made safely and with reliability.
The study will last for twelve weeks and will look at ways to relieve congestion, reduce road accidents and improve journey time reliability in the area and to support the Mon a Menai Initiative.
A public exhibition explaining the need for the study is being held on 9th and 10th of March between 10am and 8pm and on also 11th of March between 10am and 2pm at the Royal Celtic Hotel in Caernarfon and on 16th March 2010 between 10.00 and 20.00 at Canolfan Bontnewydd, The Old School, Bontnewydd. Representatives of the Welsh Assembly Government and its consultants will be present at the exhibition to answer questions and explain the study in more detail.
