Swansea Council has erected signage at a local pond warning passers-by of the presence of sewage in the water.
The Council is now working with a private drainage contractor to remove the sewage from the pond in Clyne Woods.
It is anticipated that the work to improve the situation will involve pumping out the sewage and locating the source of the problem.
Martin Saville, Head of Public Protection in Swansea Council, said:
“Investigations have indicated that a private sewer is defective. This is causing sewage to leak into the pond.
“Although the public’s health is not at risk, we have put up signage warning walkers or dog owners of the issue.”
