Children from Llantrisant Primary School got creative when they made colourful lanterns for the town’s annual Christmas celebrations.
The youngsters got busy with paint brushes to make their lanterns, which they will carry during the parade as part of Llantrisant’s free festive event on Wednesday, December 1, 2010.
The town will also host a Christmas Market with foods and crafts for sale; a Santa’s grotto and there will be street entertainers on the Castle Green. The lantern parade sets off at 6.15pm and music will fill the air at Carols in the Bullring from 6.30pm.
For adults, there will be traditional mulled wine on offer, and Tony O’Sullivan from O’Sullivan’s brasserie will be cooking reindeer burgers.
The afternoon’s festivities get underway in Llantrisant at 3.00pm and end around 8.00pm, and all are welcome.
Councillor Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Council Business, said: “Well done to the children who have added their own colourful contributions to this year’s lantern parade. We are all looking forward to the Christmas events in our town centres and hope many people will come along.”
Llantrisant Primary School’s headteacher. Mike Emanuel, said: “I’d like to thank Jo Clifford, the artist who led the lantern workshop. The children really enjoyed the activity and created good-quality lanterns with lovely artwork.
