Pupils visit Victoria Gardens

Pupils from Alderman Davies School in Neath are keeping track of the Victoria Gardens project.

Thanks to contractors Gee Construction, who have provided pupils with the necessary safety equipment, the schoolchildren are paying regular supervised visits to the Gardens to see how the restoration work is getting on.

Funded by a £1.39 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the restoration of Victoria Gardens include a new community use building with staff welfare facilities, restoration of the bandstand, cast iron railings, a disabled changing facility and an irrigation system.

Council Leader, Ali Thomas, said, “We are grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund for the grant which made it possible for the restoration work to go ahead.

“It will be a rewarding experience for pupils to become associated with this project from its early stages and thanks must go to Gee Construction for making it possible.

“When the work is finished, residents and visitors to Neath will once again be able to enjoy the beauty and history of such a well loved park.”
