Quick Reads 2010

Quick Reads Week takes place from the 22nd to the 27th February with a series of events, starting off on Platform 2 at Cardiff Train Station at 7am. The new 2010 Quick Reads titles will be launched by Ali Yassine and Rachel Tresize who are two of the Quick Reads authors.

Passengers on board the Cardiff to Holyhead train will be challenged to reading a book for the duration of the journey.  There will also be readings on board the train by the authors during the week along with events being held at Penybont and Cardiff Prison.

Quick Reads is a series of specially produced books. Each book is written in a vocabulary which is easily read and enjoyed. Quick Reads are accessible to the least able readers but have a quality and depth to make for a pleasurable read for a wider range of readers.

Stori Sydyn-Quick Reads is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and managed in partnership with the Welsh Books Council.  In Wales, Welsh book titles are also produced.

Titles in the series are distributed widely to our target audience via a network including The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education Dysgu Cymru (NIACE DC), schools, colleges, Union Learning Reps, employers, voluntary and community groups, Reading and writing (RAW) centres, basic skills tutors, early years coordinators, libraries, Mentrau Iaith centres and various local authority contacts.

2010 titles include Team Calzaghe, We Won the Lottery, Chris Corcoran’s Random Thoughts, Ali Yassine and Alun Gibbard and Loose Connections by Rachel Tresize.
