Quizmania took over Bryncelynnog Comprehensive at the end of term.
All pupils in Years seven to 13 were divided into Harry Potter-themed houses – Griffin, Phoenix, Chimera and Wyvern – and competed against each other in a different quiz every day of the last week of term.
They undertook pub quizzes, Egg Heads, Question of Sport and even Countdown, with a grand final, based on University Challenge, on the last day of term, Friday.
Using a special electronic scoring system, which shouts out the name of the house and the competitor just like Paxman’s famous quiz machine, and was designed by a talented Year 12 Bryncelynnog Pupil, the final quiz was excellent fun and a chance to test pupils’ grey matter.
All staff and students supported the event, which was won by Chimera house.
Cllr Eudine Hanagan, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, said: “Congratulations to Chimera for winning the grand finale, but well done to all the pupils and staff who worked so hard to put on a great week of quizzes that were fun and educational.
