The 10th annual Wales the True Taste Food andDrink Awards is to be held in association with leading organic dairy, Rachel’s.
Over the past decade the Welsh Government managed Awards has highlighted excellence in the food, drink andhospitality sectors, creating awareness of the quality and range of produce and services in Wales.
This year’s Awards will take place on Thursday, October 20th at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, the first time the ceremony has been held in North Wales.
Announcing Aberystwyth-based Rachel’s Dairy as this year’s headline sponsor, Alun Davies, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and European Programmes, said:
“Rachel’s is a truly home-grown company with a UK-wide profile and customer base. It is wonderful news that such a well-known brand is joining us in this anniversary year.
“The keenly contested Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Awards have helped put countless producers on the map; and there has been another tremendous response this year with 1,017 entries from 366 companies.”
Britain’s first certified organic dairy, Rachel’s produces a range of organic yogurts, milk, desserts, cream and crème fraîche.
Steve Clarke, Marketing Director at Rachel’s said:
“We are delighted to be headline sponsors of the Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Awards 2011-12, this the tenth anniversary of the awards.
“We are proud to have supported Wales the True Taste since its inception and to be associated with an event that has not only grown in stature and popularity but has become a by word for excellence in the Welsh food industry.”
Rachel’s founders Gareth and Rachel Rowlands have been closely linked with the competition since it began, with Rachel awarded the inaugural True Taste Ambassador title.
Rachel said: “The True Taste Awards are something very close to us, we have seen them grow to become among the most prized and prestigious food and drink awards in the UK.
“Over the years Rachel’s has been fortunate to have received a number of awards, and we are delighted the company is maintaining its relationship with a competition which rewards and recognises the wonderful quality and diversity of Welsh food and drink.”
The Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Awards were launched a decade ago to give public recognition to producers excelling in their sectors and to raise the profile of Welsh food and drink throughout Wales and beyond.
There are 16 categories in the independently judged Awards which aim to cater all areas of the food and drink production, retail and hospitality sectors.
The Awards have grown in popularity and stature, and are recognised by trade and consumers alike, and play an integral part in the Welsh Government’s food strategy ‘Food for Wales, Food from Wales 2010-2020’.
