BBC Radio Cymru is providing a stage for some of Wales’ brightest and newest stars with its ambitious new drama season.
The season includes specially-commissioned original works, plays by new young writers and an adaptation of a controversial play by one of Wales’ leading playwrights.
The new season kicks off with a specially written play by Anglesey author Mared Lewis.
Pic n Mics is an emotional and, at times, comical play about the closing down of an iconic, long-established shop in Bangor, called Brickhams in the play. The narrator soon realises how much the shop means to her and how it’s defined her life.
Actress Mari Emlyn plays the lead in the play, broadcast at 2.00pm on Sunday 7 February on Radio Cymru.

The drama season includes work by playwrights such as Geraint Lewis, Marlyn Samuel and Ceri Elen, with topics as far and wide as Alzheimers and a call-centre worker at the end of his tether.
As well as specially written plays, the season includes a Welsh adaptation of the controversial and acclaimed Blink, by playwright Ian Rowlands, as well as works by drama competition winners from last year’s Urdd Eisteddfod.
