People with sight difficulties who love walking and nature can now join guided countryside walks in Denbighshire, with full audio commentary.
Denbighshire Countryside Service runs events all year round and this year Colin Antwis of Fieldsman Trails, Mold has been commissioned to add his expertise to make some walks particularly accessible.
The first walk on Wednesday 12th May is a gentle stroll on the foreshore in Gronant to see and hear the rare little terns and a live commentary will be provided, using headsets and a radio microphone. This has been proven to be particularly useful for visually impaired people.
This event is free as it is part of a pilot project to encourage people into the countryside who would not normally feel confident.
This project is supported by Cadwyn Clwyd Rural Development Agency and the project is part funded by the EU Rural Development Plan for Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government. This event is also supported by the three year Heather and Hillforts Project which is developing a £2.3 million initiative for upland conservation work and has received a grant of £1.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
All the walks are published in the Out & About in Denbighshire’s Countryside to receive a copy ring 01352 810614.
A free coach will pick people up from Loggerheads Country Park at 12.30, picking up at Prestatyn Station at 1.15, to return at approximately 4.15pm.
For further information and to book please ring Colin on 01352 756202.
