Welsh Conservatives have reaffirmed their commitments on business rates ahead of the government’s response to an independent review on the issue.
The Business Minister is due to make a statement on the report’s conclusions in the Assembly on Tuesday June 12th.
Shadow Minister for Business, Nick Ramsay AM, said:
“We have long called for far greater business rates relief and this remains the easiest way of getting money back to small businesses and aiding their development.
“Scrapping rates for businesses with a rateable value of up to 12 thousand pounds – and tapering up to 15 – would provide the kind of immediate support that is sorely needed.
“I sincerely hope the review has taken this simple and effective way of getting money back to businesses into account.
“Private sector growth is the key to creating Welsh jobs and small businesses in particular deserve far more support from the government.”
