Commenting on the launch of WAG’s social services ‘action plan’, Shadow Minister for Health Nick Ramsay AM, said:
“Welsh Conservatives have long been arguing for a simpler and more effective service, with greater focus on accountability and delivery.
“While I welcome the core principles of the changes outlined, WAG’s recent decision to cut £5 million a year from Children’s Social Services and £3 million a year from the Social Services Strategy, flies in the face of this framework.
“How it expects to achieve all of the goals set out today – given its budgetary priorities – remains unclear.
“In addition, while the report addresses service planning, it gives little consideration to the idea of restructuring social services so they can work effectively with Local Health Boards.”
