Commenting on figures published this morning showing that in 2010 Wales remained the poorest part of the United Kingdom, Shadow Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology & Science, said:
“Under Labour, Wales became the poorest part of the United Kingdom and after 12 years of successive Welsh Labour Governments, Wales remains at the bottom of the UK’s prosperity league table.
“Labour has squandered billions of pounds worth of EU funds and failed to create the conditions for economic growth and job creation.
“While the past 12 months have shown signs of improvement, Welsh Labour Ministers need to start using the levers at their control.
“Welsh Conservatives will continue to put pressure on the Welsh Labour Government to cut business rates, attract job creators and set up Enterprise Zones to help make Wales a more prosperous nation.”
