RCTCBC Takes The Wheel In Transport

Rhondda Cynon Taf is set to take on the leading role in all things transport as Cabinet Member for Transport, Customer Care and Emergency Planning, Cllr Andrew Morgan becomes Chair of the South East Wales Transport Alliance (Sewta).

Sewta is an alliance of the ten local authorities in South East Wales, which was established in April 2003. The alliance is charged with preparing and co-ordinating regional transport policies, plans and programmes on behalf of its constituent councils. Sewta works in close liaison with partners representing public transport operators and users.

Public transport knows no borders and it is vital that all members of the consortium work together for the good of South East Wales as a whole to ensure that there is an efficient and effective transport network.

Cllr Morgan has been the vice chair of Sewta since 2008 and is delighted to be appointed chair: “I am keen to take up my new position as chair and will continue to lead the consortium for the good of South East Wales. It is an important time for public transport and I will do my best to ensure that we, as a consortium, secure the funding necessary to continue to develop an efficient and effective transport network for the whole of South East Wales.
