Police are re-assuring residents following a spate of thefts and burglaries on Anglesey.
Inspector Gareth Evans said this week that there had been a small number of burglaries in the Cemaes and Menai Bridge areas where the offenders on some occasions had gained entry through insecure windows.
He said he was now asking householders to be on their guard as the hot weather continues.
He said that it was tempting to leave doors and windows open in the hot weather.
“This is an open invitation to opportune thieves to enter your property so people should just take some simple steps to deter the thieves.” He said.
When you are out of the house ensure that all windows and doors are closed and that your doors are locked even if you are only out for a short time.
- Even when you are at home, it is advisable to keep doors locked.
- Don’t leave downstairs windows open at night and if you want your upstairs windows open only open them as far as any security devices fitted will allow.
- As much as is possible make sure that valuables are out of sight * Put keys out of reach from windows or doors.
- Be a good neighbour and report all suspicious incidents to the Police. For non emergencies call 101.
