This Recycle Week NPTCBC are asking you to recycle more.
The Leader of the Council Councillor Ali Thomas says “Recycle week is a national annual campaign which raises awareness of Recycling”.
“In Neath Port Talbot residents have a kerbside collection of plastics, card, textiles, paper, garden waste, glass and tins and some households are now having a collection of Food waste too”.
“But there are plenty of other things you can recycle and reuse to stop materials going into the bin”.
Recycling Centre’s can take: glass, cans, textiles, oil, tetra paks, plastic, cans, shoes, books, batteries, paper, lightbulbs, electrical goods, soil, scrap metal, timber, paint and more. Please visit the website: http://www.npt.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=2851 to see which sites take these materials.
Bulky waste such as beds and sofa’s can also be collected from the kerbside. Please call the Contact Centre on 01639 686868 for information or visit the website: http://www.npt.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=4152
If the items are in good condition and could be reused there are a number of charities who may be interested in taking the items to give to families in need. Our charity partner is the Enfys Foundation who can be contacted on 0845 009 4646.
If you are having a clear out and uncover any old electrical items in your home that are in good working order, you could donate them to one of over 90 British Heart Foundation Furniture & Electrical stores across the UK, and help them raise money for their charity. The nearest store is on the Kingsway in Swansea. For more information please visit: www.bhf.org.uk/recycle
There are lots of ways to dispose of those unused electrical items that are tucked away in our drawers and cupboards. For example, the Royal Mail have a recycling campaign called Simply Drop for very small electricals such as cameras, mobile phones and MP3s. Find out more at Simply Drop.
Finally don’t forget the charity shops – you can recycle all you unwanted clothing in local charity shops.
