Recycle Your Shopping Catalogues

This week Argos launches its new home shopping catalogue.  It is estimated there are more than 36 million Argos catalogues in circulation across the UK, each weighing 2kg.  Their combined weight is equivalent to more than 10,000 double-decker buses.

“We urge householders on Anglesey to put their old catalogues in their red recycling box.  If we work together we can avoid paper going to in the waste bin and ending up in landfill.  Please recycle it and it can become a useful product,” says Jonathan Eastwood, Acting Chief Waste Management Officer at Isle of Anglesey County Council.

In Anglesey, if hard covers are removed, all shopping catalogues can be recycled.  Put it into the red recycling box, or take them to the household waste recycling centres (Gwalchmai and Penhesgyn), or alternatively place it in the paper recycling banks located across the Island.  You can also take the Argos catalogue back to the store and they will recycle it on your behalf.

The Next Directory autumn and winter edition is also sent out to customers in July.  “Home shopping catalogues are very popular and when you have finished shopping please remember -don’t drop it in the black bin, please put it in the red box and recycle it,” says Jonathan.
