Register to vote ahead of the referendum

Householders are being urged to ensure they are registered to vote ahead of March’s referendum on law-making powers for the Welsh Assembly.

Poll cards are due to be sent out shortly ahead of the vote which is on Thursday, 3rd March and, if you have not already done so, you have only until Wednesday, 16th February, to register.

In order to vote in the referendum, an individual’s name needs to be on the electoral register.

People who have moved house recently are especially urged to check that they are on the register.

“When you change your address, you need to re-register with your new details” stressed Pembrokeshire County Council’s Electoral Services Manager, Glynne Morgan.

“Just because you are paying Council Tax at your new address doesn’t automatically mean that you will be on the Electoral Register there. You need to contact us separately. This applies whether you have bought your home or you are renting.”

To check if you are registered to vote or to request a registration form, contact the Electoral Services office at 8 High Street, Haverfordwest SA62 3DZ or ring the special referendum helpline on 01437 775844 or email: [email protected]

Alternatively a registration form can be printed off from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
