Renewed appeal for missing man from Harlech

North Wales Police are stepping up the search for a man who has been reported as missing from his Harlech home.

District Inspector Mark Armstrong said that they were becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of 54 year -year-old John Howard Mitchinson, of High Street Harlech, who was last seen mid afternoon on Boxing Day.

Mr Mitchinson is described as being 5ft 8 ins tall, balding, wearing a navy blue raincoat and could be wearing glasses.

Insp Armstrong said that they were anxious for information as the last confirmed sighting of the missing man was at approximately 3pm on the 26th December 2010 in the Twthill area of Harlech.

He said: “There have been extensive searches around the Harlech area where he was last seen with the assistance of the Mountain Rescue Team, search dogs and the police helicopter. However, there has been no trace of him in the area or elsewhere.

“We plan to step up our search over the next couple of weeks and will be carrying out more house to house investigations. I am now once again calling on the people of Harlech and Llanfair to help by checking their sheds, outbuildings and gardens for signs of entry, and to report anything suspicious to North Wales Police“.

“Anyone who has any information about his whereabouts or who may have seen him or may have any information to assist in locating Mr Mitchinson is asked to contact North Wales Police as soon as possible.”
