There has been a reprieve for 35 jobs facing the axe in rural Conwy after Assembly Government funding was secured.
Delays in funding decisions for community projects in rural Conwy was threatening 35 jobs in the county. After pressure from local Assembly Member Darren Millar (pictured) for the to secure the future of the Welsh Assembly GovernmentConwy Rural Partnership, it now seems the short-term future of the jobs has been secured.
The Conwy Rural Partnership aims to improve and enhance the lives of people living and working in rural Conwy. The project is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, the European Union and Conwy County Borough Council.
When asked to comment Darren said:
‘Whilst I’m pleased that funding has finally been agreed, the Welsh Assembly Government should not have left these decisions so late in the day.
‘The uncertainty surrounding the funding caused unnecessary distress to those working on them, undermined their hard work and jeopardised the success of these important projects.
‘The Minister must get a grip of her department to ensure that we don’t end up in this mess again.’
