Responding to today’s comments by Labour MP Wayne David about new housing legislation, Wales Office Minister David Jones MP said:
“We have delivered the housing LCO within five weeks of taking office. The previous Labour government had three years and nothing happened.
“We have reached agreement with the Assembly Government in an entirely amicable fashion and with an assurance they will not abolish the Right to Buy.
“I very much welcome the respect and decisiveness both the Wales Office and Assembly Government have demonstrated in reaching this agreement in terms acceptable to both sides.
“What is clear is that we inherited a situation from Labour which was in complete disarray.
“The housing LCO had stalled as a consequence of the previous UK government’s failure and lack of will.
“As a former minister in that government Mr David must accept his share of the blame for this.”
