Children in Clifynydd Primary School were treated to a very special green VIP guest last week.
Rhys Cycle has been doing the rounds again by spreading the important recycling message to children at the school.
The youngsters were delighted to Rhys Cycle when he dropped in to help them discover all about the world of recycling and environmental issues. The Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s environmental mascot is once again out and about helping the Streetcare environmental enforcement team bring young people up to date on all the exciting new recycling schemes on offer in the County Borough.
And if the pupils don’t get the chance to see him in person just yet, they can visit his award-winning website, The World of Rhys Cycle, at www.rhyscycle.co.uk.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Frontline Services Cllr Anthony Christopher said: “Children always enjoy a visit from Rhys as he continues to give them the clear message of how important it is to recycle and protect the environment.
“Rhondda Cynon Taf is pioneering in its approach to waste management and with such public events we can hopefully ensure that future generations will recycle waste, while also encouraging the adults at home to do the same.”
Everyone in Rhondda Cynon Taf can recycle from home through the kerbside recycling scheme. Recycling bags can be obtained free from your collection crew or by calling 01443 494700. You can also pick them up from libraries, Communities First offices or the Council’s One4All centres or alternatively leave a sticker/note on your bags requesting more before you run out.
